How Do I Know When I Can Negotiate?

December 16, 2016 Adam Sonnhalter

When do you negotiate? How do I negotiate? When is there an opportunity to negotiate? These are all questions Jack Mencini and Adam Sonnhalter discuss on this segment of Dirty Secrets of Small Business.

One client from Maximum Value Partners, where Jack and Adam are co-business owners and coaches, was experiencing a rough time when she owed money and was getting threatening messages from those she owed money to.

Jack said to the client that everything is negotiable and there is a solution to working with those whom you owe money to to set up a payment schedule and even a reduced rate of paying the owed funds back. It is a matter of sitting down with all parties and negotiating a plan that benefits both parties…everyone involved.

How do I know when I can negotiate? Answer- You can always negotiate with accountants, vendors and even your landlord. You may have to approach individuals differently but by talking to Jack and Adam, they can give you the insights on the ways to approach these people, relate to them “be in their shoes” and find a solution. Don’t be afraid to negotiate.

To get the inside scoop on how to be an effective negotiator and to listen to the entire podcast, access the podcasts on iTunes or here.
