Small Business Myth: My Spouse Isn’t Involved in My Business

October 3, 2016 Adam Sonnhalter

Dirty Secrets of Small Business host , Jack Mencini and Adam Sonnhalter, who are also business partners of Maximum Value Partners discuss a common myth that business owners don’t think their spouses or significant others are involved in their businesses.

The person who is closest to you, be it your wife, husband or significant other, is truly involved in the business because they are living with you day in and day out and are perhaps the key advisor to the small business owner.
On a daily basis, the owner expresses their day’s events, what is happening in the business and is explaining the status of the business. Even if the spouse is not involved on a daily basis by going to the office, they are extremely interested and there needs to be peace and harmony in the household by being totally upfront with the spouse and sharing with that person just exactly what is going on in the business be it good, bad or the status quo.

To have this open communications and to be able to keep your significant other in the loop will mean a great deal to the tranquility of both your home life and the success of your business.

If you have experienced communications challenges in talking about the daily events of your business with your spouse, call into the show to talk to Jack and Adam at 440-946-9468 every Monday at noon EST.
