Jack Mencini and Adam Sonnhalter of Maximum Value Partners discuss a client’s dilemma when a key employee leaves. They related this situation during their weekly radio show: Dirty Secrets of Small Business. They explained the situation that the owner, their client, was a driving, dominant personality and had an employee who did not want to assume new responsibilities. That employee, who was the voice of the team and the buffer between the boss and the team decided to leave. This situation of his leaving caused the employees to have ill feelings toward the boss for many years.
Jack and Adam advise that small business owners take a look at their organizational chart and think of the functions and what is needed from outside recruiting sources rather than trying to retrofit a current employee into a vacant slot with the outcome possibly being a good employee leaving.
Every week Jack Mencini of Maximum Value Partners (MVP) ponders the questions of life and the “How Come?” of small business. Adam Sonnhalter of MVP also analyzes why employees aren’t so happy when the small business owner gets a new client. “You also have to be aware of your employees feelings/their achievements and being aware of how new business will affect their teams. Having an awareness and a deeper understanding with your team will be valuable for the business and the relationships to build success for the business.”
