What’s Involved in Buying a Business

February 6, 2017 Adam Sonnhalter

On the weekly radio show/podcast of Dirty Secrets of Small Business with cohosts Jack Mencini and Adam Sonnhalter, they talk and debate key issues that are topics close to the hearts and minds of small business owners.

In this week’s show, Jack and Adam, who are also coaches and small business owners themselves with their 15-year company, Maximum Value Partners tackle the pertinent topic of how a small business owner can buy a business either to become a first time owner or to acquire a business to add to the already thriving small business enterprise.

They discuss how to purchase the whole business and what fundamental points to research and perform your due diligence.

There are 25 million small businesses in the United States and many of them can be bought with just a little money down or no money down at all. The business coaches also go through the not to do list when looking at buying a business . Plus also looking at it from the standpoint of buying the company which has been around for awhile or starting from scratch to begin your own small business owner.

If you have your act together as a current small business owner and have the savvy to know what to look for in acquiring a business, according to Jack… it is really quite easy to buy a company. You can buy a competitor to expand your own business or diversify and look to have another company that is completely different than yours.

Jack and Adam have coached many small business owners and Jack has personally owned and sold 5 of his own companies.

Many people aren’t even sure where to start. You need to get the first step down on asking yourself: where do I go and how do I start looking for a company? Sometimes you stumble across it. If you are actively looking to find something… look for a company that has history rather than a start up where there is a great deal of speculation.

If you are itching to buy a business to start your first journey of owning a company or you are on the path to increase your profitability by acquiring a company, listen to the entire podcast of Dirty Secrets of Small Business and the January 30th podcast.
